Giving Thanks

This marks the 15th Year of the Nettie Morgan Thanksgiving Day Pancake Breakfast. A tradition my family started after i had come back from San Diego, Cal. I was out there with nothing to do. Broke down, no money. I was stranded and had little to be Thankful for( I thought). It was Easter morning 1989 and i was really feeling sorry for myself, just walking aimlessly on the beach. I know it was beautiful, but my attitude and situation would not permit me to see it. I came upon a man cooking pancakes. He ask me if i was hungry, to which i replied " Yes" He fed me pancakes till i was full. I don't remember to much about him, other than he was very kind. But i brought the memory of that Easter morning and those pancakes, back with me to Texas. When i shared that with my Mother she said " That's something we could do as a family", so we decided to do it on Thanksgiving morning. We knew that most of the homeless in San Antonio would get plenty to eat later in the day, so we figured we would give them a good breakfast and some hot coffee to jump start their Thanksgiving. It's been 15 years. My mom has gone to Her rest and so in her honor we call it the Nettie Morgan Thanksgiving day Pancake Breakfast.
It's a designated time for giving thanks. It's a day set aside. Just a day. One day, but shouldn't we be Thankful everyday? Everyday is a blessing in one way or another. Some day's are harder than others, but still God see's fit to bless us. Sometimes we really have to look for the blessings. They can be in the flight of a butterfly, a sunset or sunrise, the whimper of a baby, the beauty of the Hill country, the sound of a stream running across the stones. The touch of a hand, a kind word at just the right moment, or a sympathetic ear. A letter from a friend, a phone call. The list ,of course is endless, if we really think about it. But we all to many times, get hung up looking at what we don't have, or the mess we are in, or our dire circumstances, yes even in those things we should have a Thanksgiving attitude. It will maks our days better if we first count our blessing. Before the world hits you between the eyes, or knocks the wind out of you, think about what you do have and just say Thank you. Throw it out there in the ethers and see how much better feel.
Have a GREAT Thanksgiving. Claude'Butch"Morgan

the Wild FUN-tier

Hope you are having your share of fun on the WILD Fun-tier..
Things are cooling off here in Devine, Tx. I mean it's like 84
degrees here right now..I got to go put on a sweater.. ha ha!
First things first..I am so grateful for the Veterans across the
land who have made it possible for us to live in peace, in this , the
greatest of all country's in the world. My dad Claude C Morgan Sr. is
a veteran of the II World War, the South pacific theater and i am a
vet from the Viet Nam area. Freedom is not free, it comes with a
price and many, many thousand have paid the ultimate price so that
people like you and me can go about our daily business and live lives
to the fullest. I am so grateful to all those who went before us and
to the one's who are in harms way right now. Keeping the war away
from our shores. Thank you, Thank you, thank you. you are our hero's
I have been having a good time playing and singing for a varied
assortment of fine music loving people at many fine new music venues
like the Rivercity Grille, where me and the H!X played last Saturday
nite. What a wonderful place. The stage hangs out over Marble Falls
Lake and is going to be a premier Texas Music venue as soon as the
word gets out.
On the CD front. The H!X "Really Live" has been getting some
regional air-play on KFAN in Fredericksberg,Tx., KSYM in San
Antonio,Tx.,Revolution radio in Kerrville, Tx. and we are just about
to do a mass mailing to many many radio stations in the greater Texas
area. In the meantime look for the H!X coming to a town near you.
I am looking down the road here and trying to plan a nice long,
artistic, break so that i can finish about 30 songs i have been
trying to get done. The problem with being your own promoter/booking
agent/handyman/driver etc. you end up not having much time to be
creative, so i am going to take a nice long "Creative" break here
pretty soon.
In the meantime I will be working (playing)like crazy so come out
and say howdy. ALSO PLEEZE sign my website guest book i would
appreciate knowing you visited..well hope to hear from you soon are
to see you down the trail somewhere, your musical pal,
